busy drawing differently
For school I have been drawing in a different way. I quite like it. The above drawing is actually not blue but my camera is a bit weird sometimes.
These were the sketches I made before the fish picutre.
After that I sketched some more ideas...
...which led to this.

drawing on
I made this by associating several things. From ravens to carrots.
After that I went on with some small doodles.
One of them is enlarged now. I made this using ballpoint pens and an orange marker.

text and image
Saturday's lesson was about text and images. We experimented with different sentences from headlines of news papers. It is actually more interesting to Dutch readers since it were all Dutch sentences.
One of my sentences was "Bouw nog licht en berg"
practically makes no sense in Dutch either.
^ this one was "Het kan nog Bouwjaar?"
"Jos van Snuffelen inventiever" and "Wie is Nieuwegeiner?"
These were other variations of the previous sentences.
"Bouw nog licht en berg"
This assignment reminded me about the HKU, which is a Dutch art school, pretty much.

drawing update
For school I drew a big Hello Kitty and a soldier. Inspired by the associations lesson.
I drew this house and I am looking for ways to experiment with it. For now I just placed a thermometer in front of it. Yes, that little statue with parrot is a thermometer. Maybe I should place some other figures in front of it too.
And I finished my Sailor drawing. Not sure if I like it a lot, but at least it is done now. :>

final museum post
Finally I sorted through all my pictures of the excursion, here are the final ones. The first three are still from the Verbeke Foundation. The other ones are from another museum we went to, SMAK in Gent.
A 3D orb in the garden of the Foundation.
Some kind of air instrument, it actually worked when the wind was blowing.
And the final picture of the Verbeke Foundation are these decorative mixed media pieces.
In SMAK there was an exhibition of an artist I forgot the name of. I did not like her work very much actually but some things were pretty interesting.
She had one huge artwork in a very big museum room. They looked like dead trees.
Here you see the other side of it. Biggest artwork I have seen so far I think.
some other artists had work there as well, such as these photos. These were pretty nice.
I was surprised to see some traditional painting here as well. That frame is really pretty. I also like the monochrome pallette the artist used.
Anyway, these were all the pictures of the excursion. I should be making some regular blog posts about drawing and such here soon. 0w0

Verbeke foundation pt 4
This post contains only drawings and collages of the Verbeke Foundation. I really like the black and white collages, they had so much detail.

image remixing
In Saturday's school lesson we edited images without Photoshop. I used several copies of the same image to get some interesting effects.
It is funny how the focus changes with some color changes.
After that we had to make an illustration based upon the image. And you actually was allowed to use your own preferred medium so I chose ballpoint pens of course.

Hear heart is the city Gent. I have never been to Gent though, that was a coincidence, I just wanted a city as a heart here.

Mixed Media
Yesterday I had my final lesson of Mixed Media. It is always a surprise what the next subject will be when we enter the class room. This time we had to make maquettes of spaces or rooms. I actually wanted to make a data center but it ended up as a destroyed city or something. After that we took pictures of it and tried different effects with lighting and such. Here are my results, I like how different light or angles can make it look so different.
I made this in a cardboard box and painted the insides black.
This last one is my favourite, I think it has a very mystical atmosphere. Seems like something nice to try out at home too.

drawing class
Saturday I had my final drawing class of this school year. This time we had to write stories based upon images we found and then draw things of those stories. I might post the stories later, they were pretty cool I think. It would be in Dutch though.
Anyway here are some of the things I drew:
For the final stage we put the images on the floor and made a collage of it. This was my result.
