Boijmans van Beuningen

Thursday I went to the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam. Last time I went to a museum was an excursion with school (which was in Scheveningen/Den Haag). I actually went for  the exhibition of Kokoschka but the other work was way more interesting.

Too bad I do not remember the artist of these 2 works, but I really loved them. They were really pretty. It looked very natural, even though it was mad from artificial material.

They also had very classicla and old things, such as these birdies.

This clock was really pretty too. I guess I really like detailed works.

I was excited to see a comic in a museum, but this one was very vulgar. It was this vulgar, that I thought it was a little "too much".

This portrait by Kokoschka came out very well I think.

Apparantly this was Kokoschka's favourite cat.

These are parts of bikes squished together. That was some fancy cube!

My favourite work was the room of Yayoi Kusama, so funny to be in a world full of red dots. Too bad there was not more of her work, I would love to see more.

sketchtime

Tomorrow this sketchbook will be more full when I go to school again. For now here are the latest results. I went to Rotterdam yesterday and took it with me as well.

As usual some of these are from observation and some are just random things from my head. Mostly girls I guess. Alright now back to watching a funny Sovjet movie. It seems I am becoming more interested in old things while growing older. o_o

By the way, this sketchbook is really bad quality, I had to repair it with tape several times already.

pelican crest

This is the newest commission I finished for a client. It has been nice to vector something again. This pelican takes good care of their young birds.
Also, I survived the dentist today! :D

painting, drawing, etc

This Sunday (Sunday is the day I usually paint) I finished off  this acrylic painting.
First I was not sure if it was finished or not, but I do like it when the painting is still a little rough. In the end I decided it is finished. It forms a bigger painting with its counterpart, which you can view here:
Other than that I tried some crocheting, but this is really hard! 0_0 I want to make a Granny Square blanket but I wonder if I ever manage to do that. These blankets seem very funny and warm so it seemed like something nice to do.

I also drew something that looked like Zelda (the photo distorts it kinda but oh well):

It's almost done now. It has been ages that I colored something the traditional way!

to File Island

Here I go again with my Digimon nerdness. This is part two of my series of illustrations for the Digimon tournament. My characters travel to File Island. Ruyumon does not like transporting Elena as you can see!

the big black book

Guess what? I started a new sketchbook again. I really keep too many sketchbook haha.
This time it is a big A4 black sketchbook. Well, most of my sketchbooks are black anyway.

This is the book that I will use when I travel somewhere. I will still use the little sketchbook when I cannot take something A4-sized with me. That makes sense to me. (probably not too most people, but oh well, I am weird). These were done in trains and at school!

intense lesson about lines

Yesterday I went to school for a drawing lesson (a lesson that takes up the whole day, yes). It was about drawing lines. First task was to draw tennis balls from life using charcoal. Charcoal is not my thing, but it went well I guess. We were only allowed to make lines and we had to keep the stick of charcoal on the paper all the time.

This makes me think of the Pepsi logo haha. Anyway, lots of lines. That was what the lesson was all about: linework.

These sheets were big too, these are all done on A1 paper. The biggest format I draw on is A2 .. o_o

Then we switched to a beach ball.

And a basket ball. Which got very deformed xD

Then did not understand the assignment well. We just had to make this:

I had to fold the papers because they were too big for my map. These lines should be horizontal but the fold distorts them.

And some verticals..

I guess this is abstract. I never do abstract lol

Last drawing we had to draw many lines and create something by making everything more black. It got so black that I needed to use white chalk. I felt like Jackson Pollock.

Roj and the Re-Dead

A few days ago I finished this commission, which is for a client that will gift it to a friend. It is their friend Roj who is chases by a Re-Dead from the Legend of Zelda. I am not really familiair with that game, but luckily there are plenty of references for that.
In other news, my school starts tomorrow. I cannot wait to start with new drawing lessons!

Guess the week started now, eh?

i c u

While it is raining (after the thunderstorm) I finished my newest digital painting. It seems rather disturbing to me. Which I think is good, the best art is a bit disturbing I would say.

I started out with this sketch:

And then this happened, lots of eye drawing o_0

Quite a transformation!

photo update

During the week I encountered some interesting things. Such as this cucumber from our garden. It has a rather strange form I think. You never see them like this in the super market.

Then I decided it was time to photograph my hamster. I think she is a super star.

She is the cutest thing ever. First she was white though and then she turned grey. o_0 I guess that is their summer fur. This hamster does not really have a name, I often call her "Beestje", which means something like little monster or little beast.

And finally a new painting. I gotta make sure I have enough work on judgement day!
